Sinopsis:
Josephine (Juliette Binoche), una mujer rica y culta, inicia una expedición al Polo Norte para reunirse con su marido, el explorador Robert Peary. Durante el viaje se encuentra con una humilde mujer esquimal (Rinko Kikuchi). Pese a sus numerosas diferencias culturales y personales, ambas tendrán que unirse para poder sobrevivir a las duras condiciones climáticas de la tundra.
