Sinopsis:
En el invierno de 1952, Nueva Inglaterra fue golpeada por el viento del norte más brutal en muchos años. Como el tiempo causó estragos en la tierra, la congelación del Atlántico lo convirtió en una zona azotada por el viento, lleno de peligro, preparando el escenario para una de las historias de rescate más heroicas que jamás se hallan vivido. En las primeras horas del lunes, 18 de febrero, mientras que la tormenta arreciaba, dos petroleros, el Pendleton y Fort Mercer, se encontraron en la misma horrible situación. Construidos con "acero sucio", no estaban preparados para afrontar semejante temporal. Dejando a docenas de hombres a bordo completamente a merced del Atlántico.
