Mississippi is home ground for blues musicians, particularly the Delta. Most of them venture out to seek their fortunes. In Terry Evans case, he moved to California. I had the good fortune to hear him live in a performance at L D's Kitchen, sponsored by the Vicksburg Blues Society, when he was home in Vicksburg. Live performances always have something extra because there is some interaction with the audience, and you can also get autographed copies of the CD.
The music has a good beat, and has some lively toe tapping type music, and some ranging into spiritual. The CD starts with "Let me go back to the country," and ends with "Wanna be close to you God." In between there are songs like "Honey Boy," "Come to the River," "What about me," etc. There are a total of 10 cuts with a total playing time of about 55 minutes. Overall, it is a good collection. All songs were written, arranged and produced by Terry Evans. The CD was recorded at Falcon Studios in Portland, Oregon, and mixed and mastered in Los Angeles. Terry's vocals are backed up by keyboard, various guitars, and drums.
