Sinopsis:
En una pequeña población francesa, el juez Michel Racine es presidente de un temido tribunal de lo penal. Tan duro consigo mismo como con los demás, es apodado "el juez de las dos cifras": con él, siempre caen más de diez años. Todo cambia el día en que Racine se topa con Ditte Lorensen-Coteret. Ella es miembro del jurado que va a juzgar a un hombre acusado de homicidio. Seis años antes, Racine estuvo enamorado de esta mujer, prácticamente en secreto. Es quizá la única mujer a la que jamás haya amado.
