Veinte mil años atrás. La Tierra es un mundo prehistórico maravilloso y lleno de peligros, así como también lo son los inicios de la Edad de Hielo. Este tiempo es donde conocemos a la manada más extraña de cualquier época: un mamut pasota llamado Manfred, que hace las cosas a su manera; un oso perezoso extremadamente holgazán llamado Sid, que disfruta no haciendo nada, a su manera; un siniestro tigre dientes-de-sable llamado Diego; y una ardilla dientes-de-sable loca por las bellotas, conocida como Scrat. Este cuarteto de inadaptados se embarca inesperadamente en una increíble aventura para devolder a un bebé humano con sus padres. Apenas logran escapar de ava-lanchas, luchan por comida con una desventurada bandada apocalíptica de dodos, exploran los misterios de un pañal, navegan a través de una montaña rusa prehistórica de túneles de hielo y atraviesan puentes de hielo sobre lava volcánica. Convirtiéndose así estos en los primeros ¡héroes del mundo

Tercera entrega de Ice Age. Los héroes bajo cero de las mundialmente famosas películas Ice Age: La Edad de Hielo y Ice Age 2: El Deshielo están de vuelta, con una aventura increíble..., y eterna. Scrat sigue intentando apoderarse de la muy escurridiza bellota (mientras, tal vez, encuentra el verdadero amor); Manny y Ellie esperan el nacimiento de su mini-mamut; Sid, el perezoso, se mete en un buen lío al formar de repente una familia propia tras encontrarse unos huevos de dinosaurio; y Diego, el tigre de dientes de sable, se pregunta si pasar tanto tiempo con sus amigos no le estará volviendo demasiado “blandito”. Con el fin de salvar al infortunado Sid, la pandilla se adentra en un misterioso mundo subterráneo, donde tienen algunos enfrentamientos con los dinosaurios, lidian con una enloquecida flora y fauna, y conocen a una comadreja tuerta e implacable cazadora de dinosaurios llamada Buck.
